What to expect in version 5.0
Version 5.0 was a foundation release. Where 4.5 gave you a terminal to watch markets and run research, 5.0 turned Dhancept into a place where strategies live — where a systematic idea becomes a book you can track, rebalance, and reason about over time. This post is a look at what that foundation makes possible next.
What just landed in 5.0
Before we look forward, a quick map of the ground we just covered:
- Systematic strategy portfolios — generate a target basket from Momentum, Swing, Triple-Screen, MPT, or Monte-Carlo over a universe you pick, ranked and sized to your capital.
- Shadow accounts — every strategy book is a paper account that marks itself to market, so you can compare approaches without committing a rupee.
- A funded rebalance wizard — decide how much to deploy, spin up a fresh folio or rebalance an existing one, and get an exact buy/sell plan (including a pro-rata trim when you're scaling down).
- Books that fit your structure — file a strategy folio under a client or family-office group and it rolls up like any other sub-folio.
Everything above is research and screening you act on yourself. That principle doesn't change — and it shapes what comes next.
Where we're headed
The theme of the next chapter is simple: from building strategies to living with them. Generating a good basket is step one. The harder, more valuable work is knowing whether to trust it, watching it honestly over time, and never letting a rebalance slip.
1. Backtest before you commit
A strategy you can't test is a guess with good manners. Next, you'll be able to run any generated strategy through its own history — see how the Momentum or Triple-Screen screen would have performed across past cycles, with drawdowns and hit-rate laid bare — before it ever becomes a book. The engine already sits under the hood; we're wiring it directly into the strategy workflow.
2. NAV that builds itself
Today a shadow account's NAV curve grows each day you open it. Next, it grows whether you're watching or not — a daily mark-to-market that keeps every paper strategy's track record complete and comparable, so a month away doesn't leave a gap in the story.
3. Real performance accounting
Unrealized gain is only half the picture. We're adding a proper realized P&L and cash ledger to shadow accounts — every rebalance booked, cash movements tracked — so a strategy's number reflects what actually happened, not just where it stands.
4. Never miss a rebalance
A weekly strategy that's rebalanced monthly isn't your strategy anymore. Beyond the in-app "due" badge, rebalance reminders will surface a strategy the moment its cadence comes around — on the dashboard, and eventually where you'll actually see them.
5. One workspace for every strategy
Optimisation and systematic strategies still live in two places. We're bringing them together into a single strategy workspace, so MPT, Monte-Carlo, and the technical screens share one flow from generation to shadow-tracking to rebalance.
The principle that stays fixed
Everything we build points the same way: better research, clearer decisions, and honest tracking — never an order placed on your behalf. Dhancept screens, simulates, and shows you the plan. You place every trade in your own broker. That's not a limitation; it's the whole point of a desk you can trust.
Tell us what matters most
This roadmap is a direction, not a contract — and the order is yours to influence. If backtesting would change how you use strategies tomorrow, or a live rebalance alert is the thing standing between you and adopting the workflow, we want to hear it. The next version is being shaped now.
